Sporting Club Thamesmead was founded from the collaboration between Thamesmead Town Youth and Seven Acre and Sidcup Senior Club. The formation of the new club has allowed the development of the youth section. We have expanded from a few teams playing in the Kent Youth League and Selkent to having teams from all ages.  The formation has also secured our superb playing facilities at Bayliss Avenue.

The club plays at Bayliss Avenue, with an official capacity of 6000 (the vast majority standing).  The ground was officially opened in August 1988 with a match against the then FA Cup holders Wimbledon.

Improvements have continued since 2000, firstly including the errection of a new 125 seat stand, replacing two similar stands with bench seating.

A new development of the Bayliss Avenue ground began in May 2009.  Sporting Club Thamesmead delivers first class sporting and leisure facilities for the local community and the ground now boosts state of the art facilities with a 400 seat stand with a balcony over looking the main pitch from the pavilion.  The pavilion contains a bar, changing facilities and an indoor sports hall and gym.  The main arena pitch is surrounded by covered terracing with the rest of the ground comprising of a second sports pitch and multi use outdoor sports facilities available seven days a week to the local community.

In addition to the award of the F.A. Charter standard, a five year plan to develop youth football for the whole community and steady growth and development of the club being steered from the club official, there has never been a more exciting time to be involved at Sporting Club Thamesmead Football Club.
